Shed Block Drill

Football Drills Shed Block Drill

Objective of Football Drill: Teach how to shed a block and make the tackle.

Action of Football Drill: Set up 2 cones about 5 feet apart. 1 person will be staged in between the cones. Form a line with 10 men about 10 feet from this person. The last person in line will be the running back with a football in hand. The first person in line will go up and put a block on the man between the cones. The man in between the cones objective is to shed the block. As soon as the first person makes contact the next person will start behind him to make another block. This will continue until the running backs turn is up and then the man between the cones will shed the last block and then make a tackle on the running back.

Coaching Points: Key on how to shed the block and make sure they make proper tackle.
