Football Drills
Sharks and Minnows Drill

Football Drills Sharks and Minnows Drill

Objective of Drill: Condition and determine who your quickest players are for backfield positions.

Action of Drill: Line out a 20 yard square area with cones. Put 4 players in the middle with yellow shell jerseys on to set them apart. Have the remaining players skatter randomly in the square. Each "shark" or player with a jersey on is given a soft nerf football to be used to throw at the remaining players "minnows". Only the sharks are allowed to throw. On "go" the sharks are allowed to throw and chase the minnows, with in the square. Any minnow hit by a ball must sit out and stand on the outside of the square. The last 4 remaining minnows are "sharks" for the next game.

Coaching Points: If the ball leaves the square, have the players already out, toss it back in.
