Ball Flip

Football Drills

Objective of Drill: To develop a habit of focusing on the ball and only the ball.

Also improves handling and grip.

Improves hand-eye contact.

Action of Drill: The receiver will hold the ball with his palm facing down, at the end of the ball.

Most of your hand MUST be gripping the ball.

The receiver will flip the ball so the other side touches the top of his fingers.

He then flicks them up and catches the ball in the original position.

It'll take a while to get down, but the receiver should practice til it becomes second nature on BOTH hands, not just the dominant one.

Coaching Points: Make sure they are even on both hands and not extremely better on one.

Before they start going faster, make sure the movement looks smooth; let them take their time.

It should be used as a warm-up at practice or just at home watching TV or something.

Have them do as many as they can in one minute, or 30 seconds and see how they improve each week.
